Here is a picture of the Chilli Beef Pancakes we ate for dinner tonight – they might not look very pretty but boy do they taste delicious.
My whole family adores these Chilli Beef Pancakes. I’ve even served them up before now at a dinner party and they have gone down very well.
The pancake batter is made by adding 2 teaspoons of Chinese 5-spice at the same time as the flour, which gives a lovely spiced depth to the flavour.
The filling is made by frying together spring onions, garlic, root ginger and beef strips; then add 1 tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp cider vinegar & 1 tbsp soy sauce.
If you wanted to make them a bit more colourful, not to mention healthier, you could add some crunchy veg – I’m thinking yellow, orange & red peppers and maybe some pak choi. We very rarely eat red meat, so tend to keep them nice and meaty as it is such an occasional treat.
We’re all so full just now we can hardly move but would gladly eat them all over again!
Yum!
