Hello dear reader,
I am very excited to tell you that I have won an award! It is for my Squidgy and Sticky Spiced Pear and Rhubarb Cake.
I entered it into the monthly recipe competition run by Rix, where their seasonal ingredient for May was rhubarb. They chose my recipe as their “recipe of the month” and I have won £100 in Waitrose vouchers. I haven’t shopped in Waitrose for ages, as it is a bit out-of-the-way for me, so I am very excited about my up-coming shopping trip! Yes I am that geeky when it comes to food shopping!
I also won this fabulous chef’s badge to display on my blog!
If you’d like to enter yourself, their seasonal ingredient for June is strawberries. The lovely Helen from Fuss Free Flavours has produced a divine recipe for Elderflower Syllabub with Roasted Balsamic Strawberries to inspire you to get creative with your strawberries.
Co-incidentally my Scrumptious Saturdays weekly round-up of recipes from around the internet was strawberry-themed last Saturday. It even includes a special method for hulling your strawberry with minimal food waste in a second.
Have fun if you are developing a new recipe
& best of luck in nailing that award!
Vohn

Thanks so much Brandi! I’m so pleased 🙂
Congratulations!! I love pear in desserts. I have never used rhubarb. I’m kinda scared of it, lol.
Thanks Stephanie. I used to hate rhubarb but I have been re-educating my palate with lots of sour and fermented food lately and now I love it! 🙂
Congratulations! This cake looks wonderful!
