Concoction of Cocktails for Scrumptious Saturdays #9

Scrumptious Saturdays is my series of weekly roundups.  I am frequently surfing around the interweb looking at lovely pictures of food and finding delicious new recipes that I want to try out. I thought it might be handy for you if I shared some of my favourites with you each week.

~~~
Last week’s theme was Sizzling Steaks and I wanted some ideas of unusual drinks to serve with them. How about a lovely cocktail or two? I found a variety of cocktail concoctions so hopefully there is something here for everyone!
First up, with all that red meat on the barbie, you’ll definitely need some help fitting in your veggies. Get your 5-a-day in cocktail form, with this brilliant Gazpacho cocktail by Janette from Culinary Ginger!
Mr Vohn hates vodka so I wanted to seek out something bourbon-based for him. Sandra from The Foodie Affair came to my rescue with this lush Bourbon Slush. It’s like a grown-up Slush Puppie, so Mr Vohn will adore it – not that he’s a grown-up but he does like Slush Puppies! 😉
So that’s the grown-ups covered, what about a cocktail for the kids? Here’s a kid-friendly and very pretty Pink Leilani mocktail by Ronda at Kitchen Dreaming.
I have a large punnet of strawberries destined for this one as I made the mistake of buying supermarket strawberries this week! It isn’t something I usually do but they were advertised as locally-grown so I grabbed them – they are sour and uninteresting compared to the sweet juicy strawberries I get at the farmer’s market.  I’m glad Ronda’s given me this Scrumptious idea of how to use them up!
Now all these ideas are quite summery, so here’s a special cocktail for my readers south of the Tropic of Capricorn, who are currently in mid-winter.  This wonderful Winter Blue Margarita comes from Dan at Platter Talk.
I also think this would be an awesome idea for the adults if you’re having to endure a Frozen-themed birthday party, although I’m not sure Disney would approve! 😉
In other news this week, I have to tell you about the amazing prize I won from Lurpak. I entered my Beetroot and Bramble Tartlets into their #FoodAdventures challenge last month and they picked me as the winner! I won this fantastic set of Salter Kitchen Scales and a selection of vouchers for their new Cook’s Range  – I can’t wait to try out the new products!
  1. Wow, some fantastic cocktails there, I don’t take much persuasion… But even I am distracted but those sensational Beetroot and bramble tartlets, yum yum yum! Well done you, fab!
    • Haha – glad you like the cocktails and thanks – I’m very pleased with my little tartlets! 🙂
