Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink 2015

Happy New Year dearest Reader!

2015 is going to be a very special year in Scotland, as the official theme for the year is FOOD and drink!! Yay!

Year of Food and Drink Scotland #ScotFood

The objective is to spotlight, celebrate and promote Scotland’s fabulous natural larder and quality produce.  I am really excited about the food scene in Scotland just now and this year is going to be amazing!

To celebrate the wonderful produce found all over Scotland there are different monthly categories – this month we are celebrating traditional Scottish foods. Think of our New Year traditions of steak pies and shortbread, through to Burns Night with haggis.

I’ll bring you more traditional Scottish recipes throughout the year. First though, to whet your appetite, here are a few of my own takes on Scottish classics from the Vohn’s Vittles archives…

There are some great masterclasses to aid you in your Scottish cookery skills. Here are my two favourites from the past year or so…

There are also some fantastic festivals and street food events throughout the year to help you find out more about Scottish produce. The best one, in my opinion, is Eat Drink Discover Scotland. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for this year!

    • It is going to be fantastic Helen – I am so excited about the foodie opportunities there will be in Scotland this year. Do pop up for a visit! 😀

  2. What a perfect theme! I must admit to not knowing a whole lot about Scottish cuisine so I shall be keeping an eye out to see what you all share.

    • Perfect theme indeed Janie – I am so excited about what this year has in store. Yes, you will certainly know a heck of a lot more about Scottish cuisine by the end of the year! 😀

  3. Looks like there’s a meet-up ahead. What’s the venue?

    • That’d be good wouldn’t it Sandie. I guess the venue is “Scotland” – anywhere our guests want us to take them! 😉

  4. Happy New Year Vohn. Sounds very exciting. Would love to get a trip up to Scotland this year. Those strawberries look most enticing – June seems a long way off.

    • Would love you to come up Choclette – get it booked NOW! 🙂
I know – my local farm shop just posted a pic of last year’s strawbs – tantalising! 😉
