Tom Baker scarf - in veggie form

Doctor Who – the 4th Doctor’s iconic scarf – vegetarian dish!

Hello dear reader,

You may remember in my Doctor Who biscuit post on Tuesday, eleven doctors, eleven biscuits, that the biscuit I posted for the 4th Doctor (that’s the one who looks like the actor Tom Baker) was his hat.  I also mentioned that his iconic long stripy scarf would feature in a later post.  Well, here it is – a vegetarian option for your Doctor Who party…

Here’s the 4th Doctor wearing his scarf…

I am really pleased with how my vegetarian interpretation of it turned out.  It is made from all natural ingredients, with no colouring added!  This is what is in each colour…

Purple = Beetroot & roasted red onion (pressed overnight)

Red = Roasted red pepper and tomato (pressed overnight)

Cream = Baked mousse of cauliflower, spring onion bulbs, cream cheese and lemon

Green = Baked mousse of broccoli, courgettes, spring onion leaves, cream cheese and coriander

Orange = Baked mousse of carrot, roasted yellow & orange pepper, cream cheese and turmeric

Grey = Baked mousse of mushroom, shallot and port

Here’s some close-ups of the sections…

To construct the scarf, I actually took a shelf out of my fridge, covered it in greaseproof paper and laid the scarf out directly on it.  Then I slid it straight back in the fridge – easy.  It can go straight to the table, with a fish slice for serving, at Doctor Who party time!

  1. THIS LOOKS AMAZING!! I seriously want to scoop it out of my computer screen to eat!! What an awesome #TimeLordChef recipe!!!

    • Aww thanks Anne Marie. I had a lot of fun making this one! It was an added bonus that it actually tasted good to! 😀

    • Thanks so much Karen! This was my first Doctor growing up – I got goosebumps when I heard his dulcet tones just before he appeared in the 50th anniversary episode! Vohn x

  2. Looks brilliant, am sure it will be a hit at any Doctor Who party! Now, where’s my crackers…

  3. That’s impressive! What a lot of work. Are you tasting it tonight?

    • Thanks Jacqui! Yep – it was yummy – I particularly liked the cauliflower layer, even though I’m not overly keen on cauliflower! Vohn x

    • Hehe – THANKS Emma! Vohn x

  4. Vohn you are amazing and utterly obsessed. This scarf is even better than your biscuits. I watched the 50 yrs of Dr Who last night on iPlayer and finally saw the many recent faces of Dr Who – the scarf wearing 4th Dr was the last one I remember.

    • Hehe, thanks Choclette! I’ve been having such fun with it! 🙂 Vohn x

  5. OMG, that’s totally and utterly AMAZING!!! Must have taken you ages to concoct and make up, completely fabulous. Hope you’re planning on a very special Doctor Who party to scoff it at?!….though I’m not sure I’d want to eat such a masterpiece!!!

    • Thanks Louisa! When I first mentioned writing some Doctor Who recipes my step-daughter suggested some sort of lasagne dish with different coloured layers for the scarf and my thoughts developed from there. It was such fun – I do keep opening the fridge to look at it! 🙂 Vohn x
